DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala. (WKRG) — Time could be running out for activists trying to stop the removal of foxes and other animals from Dauphin Island.
A conservation management plan for Dauphin Island calls for the removal of predatory animals in order to protect sea turtles and birds on the West End Nature Preserve.
Attorney Mary Beth Mantiply, an advocate for the animals, has Oct. 10th circled on her calendar, when a hearing is set to hear both sides of this issue.
While foxes are the face of the lawsuit, the plan also calls for the removal of bobcats, coyotes, raccoons, and other animals.
Mantiply filed for a temporary restraining order so the town can't trap and kill the animals with neck snares and leg traps.
