HANNIBAL (WGEM) - As bat migration season continues, people may find them resting on, or even inside, their house.
While they’re mostly harmless, bats can bite and spread rabies through their saliva.
Most people might want to call a pest control specialist to exterminate them, but they are a federally protected species.
“One thing about bats, we do not do extermination for them. We recommend what to do, what to repel them away with,” said Rodney Becks, service manager for O’Donnell’s Termite & Pest Control. “They are protected by federal law, but we give hints to customers on what to do, when they should call in, and what they can’t do.“
Since they can’t be exterminated, there are a couple different methods Becks recommends to safely remove them from your house.
He said the best way t
