In a win-or-go-home scenario on Thursday night, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders stumbled out of the gate — and saw their season come to a close as a result.

The RailRiders gave up five runs in the first inning, a deficit they cut into but couldn’t overcome before falling to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 7-4 in the decisive Game 3 of the International League Championship Series.

A ninth-inning Scranton/Wilkes-Barre rally saw all four of the team’s runs come in to score, and the go-ahead run come to the plate with the bases loaded, but ultimately the RailRiders came up short in their quest for the franchise’s third IL championship and first since 2016.
