ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - One of the oldest parks within St. Louis city limits has a non-profit organization working to restore some of its former glory on the North side, and write the next chapter for this piece of St. Louis History. Fairground Park dates back to the 1850s.

Now, on Thursday’s serene afternoon, it’s the spot where Marvin Coney likes to set up and secure another catch.

“It means a lot to me. I’m 66 right now, and I’ve basically been hanging around in this park for 40, 45 years, maybe a little longer than that, and I’ve been fishing and watching it through the years, and it’s a pretty nice park,” Coney said.

It is one of two parks (Fairground Park and O’Fallon Park) where regulars said they’ll go to cast a line.
