SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Students at South Kingstown High School were let out early on Friday due to a water main break on Columbia Street.

Police said Columbia Street has been shut down between Church and School streets as crews work on repairs.

Because of the loss of water in the building, the school dismissed students and staff at 10:30 a.m.

"Please avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as crews work to resolve this issue," police wrote in a social media post.
