ATLANTIC BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- Atlantic Beach Interim Police Chief Carlos Castillo was handed a 30-day suspension without pay in mid-August after failing to meet job performance standards, according to documents News13 obtained via a Freedom of Information Act request.
Town Manager Adrian Jones said in an Aug. 18 memorandum to Castillo following a performance review that "it has been observed that your performance has not met the standards expected for your position."
Specifically, Jones' letter said Castillo had "inconsistent attendance without proper notification," a "lack of adherence to assigned job duties," and that he failed to "uphold the responsibilities outlined" in a job description.
