BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The 18th annual 'Walk for Peace' is taking place Saturday, Sept. 27.

The walk is in honor of Wendale Davis, a teen who was shot and killed while sitting in his vehicle in 2006. He was 16.

The case was never solved and with that, his family has created a foundation in his honor in hopes of spreading awareness on gun violence and helping counsel families who have experienced similar things in the community.

The walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Southside S.D.A Church which is located at 1330 3rd Street.

The event will include a free lunch, resource information, community partners, public agencies and support booths.
