A Milpitas physician was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of inappropriately touching a patient during a consultation, police said.

Detectives began investigating Dr. Sanjay Agarwal after receiving a report on Sept. 16 that he had touched a female patient without consent, according to the Milpitas Police Department. The investigation alleged that it occurred during a medical appointment.

On Wednesday, detectives arrested Agarwal at his office in Milpitas. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of sexual battery.
