Shillong, Sep 26: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) is set to hold its election for new Chief Executive Member (CEM) on September 30.

This development follows the unexpected resignation of Shemborlang Rynjah, the previous CEM, who stepped down due to health reasons.

Nongthymmai MDC Winston Tony Lyngdoh is poised to take over as the new CEM, having been nominated during a meeting convened by the ruling Voice of the People Party (VPP).

The meeting was attended by all party MDCs, who unanimously supported Lyngdoh’s nomination. Additionally, Jaiaw MDC Denzil Raynard Chen will be inducted as the new Executive Member.

The VPP candidate should sail through the election as the party has an absolute majority in the house.
