BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern County Board of Supervisors held a special meeting Friday morning to sign a proclamation of local emergency in eastern Kern County and open up the possibility of asking for state funds to repair the damages.
The Rand Communities Water District and Kern County Fire Department spoke at the meeting to explain why the county should declare a local emergency, following the storms and flooding last week that led to severe damage in parts of the county's eastern region.
According to the board agenda, the heavy water flow in eastern Kern infiltrated the areas of Johannesburg, Randsburg, Red Mountain, California City and Ridgecrest, damaging local roads.
