MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- As the Grand Strand and Pee Dee keep a watchful eye on the next tropical weather system in the Atlantic, officials say it's never too early to plan ahead for worst-case scenarios.

So far, the 2025 hurricane season, which continues through November, has seen eight named tropical systems, the latest being Hurricane Humberto, which is currently on a path that would take it west of Bermuda but far from the Southeast coastline.

Next up would be Imelda, which is still developing and is predicted to be a bigger concern for South Carolina coastal areas. As the storm continues to develop, Horry County, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach and Conway have issued emergency declarations in preparation for potential storm impacts.
