SENECA FALLS, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- An overnight clerk working the front desk at a hotel in Seneca Falls might be the only person to have seen a 26-year-old man before he allegedly raped a 12-year-old he met online.

Police say 26-year-old Brandon Szyszkiewicz, from South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, began a relationship with a 12-year-old girl from Nedrow four days before he drove to Central New York, picked her up at home overnight, and checked into a hotel for sex.

In court paperwork obtained by NewsChannel 9, the clerk detailed the encounter to police. She remembered seeing them walk into the lobby.

"I heard the girl giggle a couple of times and he ask her, 'What's the matter, baby?'" the clerk recalled. "And I could not hear anything from her. I felt that was odd and kind of creeped me out."
