OSWEGO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- A wastewater treatment facility in Oswego detected the measles virus earlier this week, albeit in low levels.
Still, the state health department has issued an advisory for local hospitals and other medical facilities to be on the lookout for measles. So far, nobody in Oswego County or the surround areas has been detected with the virus.
“This detection does not mean there is an outbreak," State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald said. "It is, however, a timely reminder to make sure you and your family are up to date on the MMR vaccine and to keep an eye out for symptoms.”
