FAIRPORT N.Y. (WROC) — The closure of a railroad crossing in Fairport after a train and tractor trailer collided on the tracks has business owners worried about foot traffic to the area.

The accident happened Wednesday evening after a tractor trailer was struck by a train. The driver of the trailer was uninjured, but railroad crossing on main street remains closed.

Sarah Colby, who owns Fizzy Bombz located near the crossing says construction and closures are constant in the area.

"It's making people stay away from our village right now,” Colby said.

With the Scarecrow Festival and Oktoberfest happening this weekend, she says this new deterrent could cause an even blow to foot traffic.

“That's a huge revenue boost for our business every September,” Colby said.
