We've been telling you about the local Starbucks locations that are shutting down, including the one in Boston's Government Center with the big, golden tea kettle out front.
The kettle itself dates back to the 1800s, but it has hung in that particular spot since the 1960s, when there was a coffee shop there called, appropriately, "The Steaming Kettle."
Digging back into the archives, we found a story from 1977 when a longtime waitress at the Steaming Kettle retired — and got a fitting sendoff from NewsCenter 5 reporter Bill Harrington.
