NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A Middle Tennessee family is encouraging people to donate blood after 13-year-old Kaemey Young says transfusions have given her the strength to keep fighting leukemia.
Kaemey, who lives in Shelbyville, was diagnosed in November 2024 after what her family first thought were hives turned out to be Leukemia. She’s now nearly halfway through a two and a half year treatment plan at TriStar Centennial.
“I found out in my school parking lot. So, it was definitely hard, and I was scared,” Kaemey said.
Kaemey and her family make the drive to Nashville every week for care and for blood transfusions, which she says help her feel like herself again.
