NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Neighbors in the Salemtown area are fed up that nothing is being done to stop crime coming from homeless people staying at the Nashville Rescue Mission.

Some Salemtown area residents said they’re scared for their safety and that things have only gotten worse over the last year since the Mission reopened its Women’s and Children’s shelter.

Earlier this month, a community meeting was held with more than 100 people filling the room, complaining about stolen packages, panhandling, and even prostitution solicitations.

Metro Council Member Jacob Kupin said the issues keep spilling into the community from the shelter and impact the quality of life in the area.

Kupin is frustrated that the Mission hasn’t taken more steps to prevent crime in the area. The neighborhood
