URBANA — Urbana High School’s recent rise to prominence in boys cross-country began in the fall of 2022 at the bottom of a steep hill in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.
After finishing dead last by a mile in the Class 4A West regional meet in 2019, missing the 2020 season entirely due to the coronavirus pandemic and feeling their way through a return to something closer to normal in 2021, like the rest of the world, the Hawks program was at a fairly low ebb.
