Brother Martin kicker Maximo Barrios never saw his game-winning field goal go between the uprights because of how his teammates reacted in the moment — each of them turning toward him and jumping in celebration.

Barrios made a 38-yard field goal with two seconds remaining to lift Brother Martin over Jesuit 31-29 in what turned out to be a thriller with two late lead changes in the District 9-5A opener Friday at Tad Gormley Stadium.

The Crusaders (4-0, 1-0) led for most of the night after Easton Royal scored the first of his two touchdowns on the first play from scrimmage. But when Jesuit went ahead with a touchdown with just over a minute remaining, Barrios knew he could be in position to kick the game-winner.
