Fraud: Richard Drive

A Richard resident lost $1,500 to a person fraudulently representing himself or herself as a representative of a trucking company.

The resident reported the fraud Sept. 15. He said he sent $1,500 to the company for a trucking or shipping lane, which is a route that truckers use to haul freight.

After sending the money through Zelle, an electronic money transfer system, the trucking company asked the resident for more money.

The resident became suspicious. He looked online and found a phone number for the trucking company. He called and learned that the phone line was no longer in service.
