Upper St. Clair senior quarterback Ethan Hellmann had been on all night.
He finished the game 23 of 36 for 305 yards and two touchdowns.
But on the pass he needed the most, there was a miscommunication with his receiver.
“I thought he was going to sit, but that wasn’t the route,” Hellmann admitted. “I have got to do better in crunch time.”
Hellmann’s fourth-down pass at the Peters Township 12-yard line fell incomplete with less than a minute left, sealing the win for the Indians.
Peters Township (6-0, 1-0) won its Allegheny Six conference opener against Upper St. Clair 24-20.
