CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mentor Cardinals handed the Cleveland Heights Tigers their first shutout of the season, 35-0, on Friday night.
Mentor, ranked fourth in this week’s cleveland.com high school football Top 25, improves to 6-0. Cleveland Heights is 1-5.
Mentor junior linebacker Colten Pollock blocked a Tigers punt and followed up with a scoop and score for a 7-0 lead with 9:12 left in the first quarter.
Cardinals senior running back Dominic Burns generated a 9-yard touchdown run for a 14-0 lead with 8:05 left in the second.
Jackson Farley added a 1-yard touchdown run for a comfortable 21-0 lead with 1:53 left in the first half.
After an interception, Mentor followed up with a long pass to senior wide receiver Justen Hodge. That was followed by another 1-yard touchdown run by Farley,
