ROYERSFORD — Upper Perkiomen football has been part of Dan Heinrichs’ life for almost two decades.

But he didn’t require any of those memories to put Friday’s 23-16 victory over two-time defending PAC champion Pope John Paul II into immediate perspective.

“It’s number one — by far,” said the third-year head coach in ranking the win. “This feels better than any experience I’ve had wearing an Upper Perk jersey, or shirt, or hat — this is the one.”

The result alone made it a memorable night, but the way in which the Tribe (4-2, 2-0 PAC Frontier) competed for 48 minutes made it an extra special night for Heinrichs.

Statistically, the game was dead even, and in terms of making big plays at opportune times, UP dominated, especially in the fourth quarter where they outscored PJP 14-3.
