As I write my bi-weekly column, today is Sept. 12, and the weather has been absolutely fantastic! After enduring a very hot, humid, and droughty summer, our redemption seems to have arrived.

These September days are when a major shift in bird populations takes place. The bird world is in transition as many species of birds have already left for the South and several birds from Canada are passing through, and still, many birds will linger well into fall. As I have mentioned before, almost anything is possible for sighting unusual birds in locations that may not seem normal.
