MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - AUSTINTOWN The Mahoning Valley OVI Task Force will be conducting an OVI checkpoint in Austintown Friday night.

The checkpoint is being held at 1051 S. Raccoon Road, which is near the 911 Memorial Park and Austintown Middle School, between 10 p.m. and 12 a.m.

A second OVI checkpoint is planned for 12:30 to 3 a.m. in the area of 4545 New Road, near St. Joseph Church.

The checkpoint will be accompanied by saturation patrols from various law enforcement agencies throughout Mahoning County in order to keep impaired drivers off the roadway.

A 1990 U.S. Supreme Court ruling requires that drivers be notified before sobriety checkpoints are conducted to avoid violating constitutional protections against illegal search and seizure. The ruling did not specify what
