Parts of Florida fall within the potential path of what is expected to become Tropical Storm Imelda this weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center. Meanwhile major Hurricane Humberto intensified further into a Category 4 storm in the Atlantic.

What is now labeled Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine is forecast to develop into a tropical depression over the Bahamas by Saturday night and a hurricane parked off the coast of Jacksonville by Monday.

“PTC 9 is forecast to make an uncomfortably close pass near Florida late Sunday through Monday, with ensemble guidance continuing to favor a northward motion as it parallels the coast,” the National Weather Service in Melbourne stated.
