O ur family has celebrated many graduations through the years. There have been commencement events where a member of the family received a diploma from kindergarten through high school, or a degree from college or graduate school. Some celebrations were for family members. Others involved participation because my wife was an employee and faculty member at King University.

More recently, graduation ceremonies have involved celebrating the completion of courses in the military. On Sept. 11, our oldest grandson, Allen Nash, celebrated the completion of basic training in the Navy and graduated from boot camp at Great Lakes Naval Station near Chicago.
