DUBLIN — Hey, where yinz been?
As grammatically incorrect as that sentence might be, it’s something that I struggle to understand when it comes to the Steelers’ Ireland arrival.
It should’ve been early in the week. It was not. The Steelers didn’t arrive until Friday morning, the decision squandering a black-and-golden opportunity for players to experience more of this place, to interact some with locals, to validate the efforts made to stage the first-ever NFL regular season game in Ireland and essentially pay tribute to a part of the world that clearly means a great deal to the Rooney family.
I still don’t know who ultimately made the decision. But I don’t like it.
“It was a football decision,” Steelers team president Art Rooney II tried to explain on Friday after practice at the Cart
