Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has met King Charles at Balmoral Castle after flying to Scotland for the private audience at the highland estate.
Albanese mentioned his visit to Balmoral in some of his meetings with leaders in London on Friday, highlighting the importance of the trip.
“It will be quite a privilege to go up to Balmoral tomorrow, I’m looking forward to it,” he told Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch when they met on Friday at Stoke Lodge, the official residence of the Australian High Commissioner, Stephen Smith.
Albanese held his first audience as prime minister with the King, then the Prince of Wales, when he visited London for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022. They met again in May 2023, when the prime minister attended the King’s coronation.
