CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One person died and two others were hurt after a shooting in east Charlotte early Saturday morning.

It happened around 4 a.m. in the 5000 block of East Independence Boulevard near Glendora Drive. Off-duty officers responded and located three victims with gunshot wounds.

One victim was transported by Medic and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The two others self-transported to the hospital, police said.

An investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 704-432-8477 and speak to a Homicide Unit Detective or leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
