EAGAN, Minn. — For months, the possibility of Aaron Rodgers joining the Minnesota Vikings was a sizzling-hot topic around the Twin Cities.

Brett Favre did it in 2009, so it wouldn't have been the first time a legendary Green Bay Packers quarterback swapped green for purple.

Nothing actually amounted from those rumors, as the future Hall of Famer signed with Pittsburgh, and the Vikings went forward with their 22-year-old quarterback of the future.

"[Vikings head coach] Kevin [O'Connell] and I have been friends since 2008 ... He's one of the guys I keep in contact with," Rodgers told reporters on Wednesday. "Things never progressed farther than catch-up conversations, and I'll just leave it at that."
