CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A man was arrested by Carteret County deputies Friday for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a woman.

A magistrate’s order says that 32-year-old Zachary Bennett of Newport “unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously” kidnapped a woman for the purpose of holding her in “involuntary servitude.”

The order says the crimes happened Friday.

Bennett is charged with second-degree felony kidnapping, assault on a female, and injury to personal property.

Bennett was not given bond.
