Thousands gathered around the set of ESPN’s “College GameDay,” broadcasting from Old Main Lawn ahead of the third-ranked Nittany Lions’ massive matchup with No. 6 Oregon.
Even the cast of the iconic pregame show — Plum native Pat McAfee among them — got the memo Saturday in Happy Valley. They donned white — although McAfee’s suit was more of a beige — while building the anticipation for the 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
More than 100 miles east of PNC Park, even Pirates fans made their voices heard.
Three friends from Canonsburg brought a “Sell the team, Bob” sign to Old Main Lawn, arriving at 5 a.m. — four hours before the show began — to get a prime spot.
