A man given five years in prison for beating a man to death at an Edmonton homeless shelter is wanted by police just over a year after being sentenced.
Edmonton city police on Friday evening issued an arrest warrant for Stanley Jago, who they said is unlawfully at large and a risk to public safety.
Jago, 35, was last seen downtown Thursday afternoon near 102 Avenue and 106 Street. Police consider Jago dangerous and urged the public to keep their distance.

The news comes just 13 months after Jago was sentenced for the 2022 manslaughter death of Thomas Gignac, who he repeatedly punched while the two were sleeping at the Herb Jamieson homeless shelter.
