SPRINGFIELD, Mo. —Rescue One, a non-profit veterinary clinic in Springfield, faces closure due to the impending departure of its current veterinarian, leaving the clinic without a vet after December 1, 2025.
"We've been trying for a while now because we knew that our vet would be leaving eventually," said Michele Rehkop, adoptions coordinator at Rescue One, "We're just really trying to ramp up the search trying to find a vet, maybe a newly graduated student, or a retired vet could come out of retirement."
Despite months of searching, Rescue One has been unable to find a replacement veterinarian, which could force the clinic to shut down temporarily. For over five years, the clinic has been providing care for animals and assisting five other organizations with veterinary services.
