IRONDALE, Ala. (TRIBUNE) -- Irondale Mayor James D. Stewart, Jr. and the Irondale City Council have made a $5,700 contribution to support the Shades Valley High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program.
City officials highlighted the importance of the program, which instills leadership, discipline, and character in students who may one day serve as civic and community leaders.
At last week’s council meeting, members of the JROTC unit attended in person, introducing themselves to the mayor, council, and those present. Their confidence and professionalism were noted as a reflection of the program’s lasting impact.
