HAZLETON, Pa. — A vigil tonight in Hazleton honoring the victims of a shooting earlier this month.

Friends and family gathered at Hilltop Apartments along East Broad Street to remember Vanessa Bigg-Carr.

Police say she was shot and killed on September 13th by Miguel Lara. Lara also shot Patrick Hearst, who was seriously injured, before turning the gun on himself.

"This never happens in our community of Hilltop. We're a very loving, tight-knit community, so it was all a shock for us. So that's why I wanted to plan this vigil, to show the families how much our sorrows and our prayers and our love are with them in their times of trials.", said Joyce Dietrich, organizer of the vigil.

Folks here prayed for the victims and talked about their memories of them at the vigil.
