MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Amazon has agreed to a historic settlement that will include payouts for tens of millions of customers. A 'historic' settlement The tech giant is settling allegations that it tricked people into paying for Amazon Prime. "Amazon used sophisticated subscription traps designed to manipulate consumers into enrolling in Prime, and then made it exceedingly hard for consumers to end their subscription," wrote FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson in a news release. The company must pay a $1 billion civil penalty and $1.5 billion in refunds for an estimated 35 million customers.
