The trip: They took a Viking 11-day river cruise on the Nile River. They visited the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx plus other museums and sites around Cairo and then flew to Luxor and boarded the Viking Osiris river ship there. They traveled down to Aswan High Dam, stopping and seeing many temples and sites along the Nile River each way back to Luxor and then flew back to Cairo.

Travel tip: Take plenty of small change, whether U.S. money or Egyptian money. To use a public restroom, it costs $1 American or 50 pounds Egyptian. Be prepared for no pork and some strange food.
