Eggs and wet paper towels were among the ammunition used by youths hurling projectiles at passing cars and caused chaos on Saturday night (September 27).
There was also an instance of criminal damage reported to the police, the Manchester Evening News understands.
Youths caused chaos in Hindley as disturbances broke out throughout the evening.
Police were called in to the Wigan town after a large emergency services presence was seen on Cross Street and Market Street near to the Hindley Fair and Tesco supermarket.
A dispersal order was put in place following the multiple incidents , including 'alcohol-related disturbances' and 'youths throwing several items at cars'.
The order gives police the powers to exclude a person from an area for up to 48 hours.
