Russell M. Nelson has passed away.

The oldest-ever President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints died at the age of 101, as confirmed by the church.

He passed on Saturday (September 27) night at his home in Salt Lake City, according to church officials, via AP .

Russell became an Apostle in 1984, and took on the position as President of the Church in 2018. He was the 17th overall President of the church in its history.

“With sorrow we announce that Russell M. Nelson , beloved President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, passed away peacefully shortly after 10 p.m. MDT today at his home in Salt Lake City.
