FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Arkansas dismissed head coach Sam Pittman on Sept. 27 after a 56-13 loss to Notre Dame, opening a 30-day transfer portal window for players.

Offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino was named interim head coach and will be considered for the permanent position as a national search begins.

Can a player enter the transfer portal right now?

Yes. The NCAA permits a 30-day transfer portal window following a head coaching change. For example, UCLA and Virginia Tech football players were allowed to transfer early after their coaches were fired on Sept. 14.

While a player could technically remain on the team after entering the portal, coaches rarely allow it.
