FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- One man has died following a stabbing in southeast Fresno.

Police say the stabbing happened at 10:45 a.m. Sunday on Garrett and Maple avenues.

When officers arrived, they found a man in his 30s suffering from multiple stab wounds to his upper body.

He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

Officers say the suspect is a man in his 40s and was last seen fleeing in a black mid-sized 4-door vehicle on Maple Avenue.

The motive for the stabbing is under investigation.

Garrett Avenue, west of Maple Avenue, is expected to be closed off to traffic for at least the next five hours.
