ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The state's first-of-its-kind trauma recovery facility is now open to Albuquerque residents. Sunday, city leaders held a grand opening for the Trauma Recovery Center located at the Gateway Center on Gibson.
The city says the TRC is a safe and healing space centered around helping survivors of domestic violence and trauma. The center is also teh new home of Albuquerque Community Safety's Violence Intervention Program Division, its goal being to harbor multiple services under one roof.
"The TRC marks a move away from outdated systems, embracing a community-first approach that prioritizes healing and centers the needs of survivors as well as the community. This is a door that's open to the community," says director of ACS, Jodie Esquibel.
The TRC has experts spec
