ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – In a traditional celebration of all things fall, the New Mexico Japanese American Citizens League hosted its annual Aki Matsuri celebration. The Japanese fall festival has evolved over the past 40 years, but it has always been a celebration of the changing of seasons and honoring New Mexico's small Japanese population.
The event has been held at various venues over the years, starting in teh small parking lot at the former Taro's Gardens Japanese Restaurant in northeast Albuquerque. It then moved to Civic Plaza, then to the courtyard of the Japanese Kitchen on Louisiana.
As the celebration grew, it made its way to the National Hispanic Cultural Center, the Veterans Memorial, and now Expo New Mexico. But the event coordinators say they're not done expanding. "We
