FRANKLIN, Va. — Franklin Police Department officers are investigating a shots fired incident that was initially reported as an active shooter.

It happened about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Franklin Police Department spokesman. They were called to the Love’s in the 2300 block of South Street for a reported active shooting incident.

However, when police arrived, they found shots had been fired by an individual who had departed the area.

Franklin Police Department officers and Southampton County Sheriff’s Office deputies searched the area; however, they did not find anyone who had been injured or any property that had been damaged.
