(FOX40.COM) — The pedestrian who was transported to a hospital after an early morning vehicle vs pedestrian crash was pronounced dead. • Video above: How to report a public safety threat

According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers responded to reports of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision at around 8 a.m. near 24th Street and 47th Avenue in South Sacramento.

Police said the pedestrian died from his injuries at the hospital.

Sacramento police said the vehicle's driver remained on the scene and worked with officers as they were investigating.

At this time, police said DUI does not appear to be a factor.

The investigation is still ongoing.
