MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application opens in October, and a Wisconsin nonprofit wants to make sure borrowers know they don’t have to tackle the student loan process alone.

The Wisconsin Coalition on Student Debt, also known as Debt Smarts, is a nonprofit focused on helping Wisconsinites navigate the complex world of student loans. With support from Ascendium Education Group, the group provides free, practical tools and a helpline for borrowers across the state.
