DODGEVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) - A Dodgeville staple that’s been baking memories for nearly a century will soon turn off its ovens.

Quality Bakery, a fourth-generation business, announced it will close its doors Saturday, October 4. The family announced the decision on social media earlier this week, thanking customers, neighbors and employees for 97 years of support.

For the current generation, the bakery has been a part of life since childhood.

“I started waiting on customers when I was eight. I had to stand on a milk crate to reach the cash register,” said owner Carole Mallon.

Her deepest memories are tied to her father, who ran the bakery for decades.

“And I was his right-hand man for about six years until he was diagnosed with cancer. And we lost him a short four months later,” she sa
