MCKINLEY COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – A woman is facing charges for driving while intoxicated (DWI) and driving with a suspended license in McKinley County, and this is not her first offense. In April, New Mexico State Police officers pulled over a silver car on the side of the freeway in McKinley County due to an expired registration.

The driver, 61-year-old Bernice Lewis, presented her ID, as her license had been suspended from a previous DWI case. While speaking with her and the passengers, the officer asked if they had been drinking, but they all initially denied it.

One of the passengers was not wearing a seatbelt, leading the officers to request his ID. When he failed to comply, he was arrested for concealing his identity and had an outstanding warrant. The officer then redirected his att
